The two sides of Fanchise

by Dave Klonke on March 10, 2011

When we launched Fanchise back in early 2010, the idea was mostly focused around the fan. Today we’re working the concept from two equal angles — the fan as well as the athlete.

We’re busy working on a portal in which professional and semi-pro athletes can easily add themselves to a team roster. This is an exciting step as it brings this whole idea a significant step closer to reality. Our original feedback cited the fact that fans might not be interested in buying into something that doesn’t in some way, shape or form quite yet exist. By having teams stocked with a preliminary roster of players, teams are now actually teams.

In the coming weeks players are going to be able to submit their vital information and player statistics to the Fanchise system. By adding themselves to the roster, there is no guarantee that they would actually remain with that club or make it any further than the preliminary roster, but it does give each franchise a base of players to start with. From there, anything can happen!

We’ll keep you posted on what’s coming next!

The next step for Fanchise

October 22, 2010

From a sports point of view and certainly not so much because of the weather, this happens to be my favorite time of the year. There’s no other time of the year when all four major sports are up and running like they are now. The MLB playoffs are in full swing. The NFL is [...]

The Lebron hysteria is driven by the fans

We can try to place all the blame on ESPN and Lebron James for what has become the debacle called “The Decision,” or we can own up to it and blame ourselves…the fans. Do you think ESPN would devote the time to a topic if it wasn’t going to attract viewers? Did ESPN create the [...]

America's Racing Team

Over the holiday weekend I read about a press conference held at the Daytona International Speedway. I did a quick Google search and found articles on CBS Sports and Yahoo. My first thought was: This is outstanding! These guys are thinking just like we are here at Fanchise. As I did more investigating I realized [...]

By now you’ve heard just about every angle to last week’s (im)perfect game. The whole event seems to have come full circle in the sense that as the dust settled we’re all content with the belief that we witnessed history and more importantly a true perfect game. The main characters, Armando Galarraga and Jim Joyce, [...]

I learned long ago that an idea is never perfect. There’s always some aspect of a concept where your overall giddiness speaks louder than reality. When you’re in the business of coming up with ideas and creative solutions you more able to identify and embrace these moments and accept them as epiphanies and opportunities to [...]

If you look at the list of cities for proposed Fanchise franchises you may be somewhat surprised when you come across Hartford on the hockey list. Why Hartford? Didn’t they lose the NHL Whalers back in the late 90s? Yes, they did, but I personally believe the Hartford market is ready for a professional hockey [...]

$25. That’s the inexpensive annual investment that it requires to become a Fanchise sports franchise owner. It’s as simple as that. You are either extremely involved, a long-term investor or silent owner. It’s up to you. In order to maintain your ownership status you must purchase at least one new share each year.

So who is Fanchise for? Many think it’s only for the passionate sports fan. While that may make up the largest piece of the ownership pie, it’s not the only audience for Fanchise team ownership. Look at the chart (above) and also see where you fit in:

The Fanchise refund policy explained

May 2, 2010

As we’ve soft-launched the Fanchise concept, a number of folks have ask the question: “What if this doesn’t work? Do I get my money back?” That’s been a tough question to hear for a number of reasons. Our primary concern was that “what if this doesn’t work out?” isn’t typically the kind of question that [...]
